Broncos will bring tough test

Lind/Ritzville/Sprague can be expected to bring a tough test to Colfax Friday for another round of NE-South league play. The Broncos Saturday tagged a 12-point win over the Reardan team which edged Colfax here in the last home show. That moved their overall record to 8-1.

Colfax will host the LRS club after sustaining a two-point loss to Reardan last Friday on the home court and then pounding Northwest Christian 59-36 in a road win Tuesday night at Colbert.

The Bulldogs hammered the Crusaders 23-7 in the first quarter, and the hosts never cut down the gap for the balance of the game.

John Lustig led all scorers with 23 points, including four threebies, in the big win.

Colfax led 36-17 at the break.

The Bulldogs rolled in eight three-point shots, and the Crusaders hit just one.

Last Friday on the home court, the Bulldogs let the Indians get off to a fast start led by Zane Perleberg.

Colfax was in a 5-16 hole with 3:18 left in the first quarter.

Reardan had a 22-12 edge at the end of the quarter, but Colfax turned on the gas and stacked a 26-26 tie before Cody Sprecher hit a series of buckets for a 34-30 Reardan edge at the half.

Colfax came out with a strong third quarter and had a 46-43 lead with Lustig hitting two threebies at the end of the frame.

Reardan charged back in the last quarter and a trey shot by Perleberg put them on top 58-54.

Last Colfax bucket was a two-pointer by Layne Gingerich.

Perleberg finished with three treys for the night, and Lustig, who led all scorers with 34 points, hit four three pointers.

The loss dropped the Colfax mark to a 2-1 in the NE south side league. Overall, they stand at 8-3 after Tuesday's win at Northwest Christian.
