HAYES PLEADS NOT GUILTY
Phillip A. Hayes, 59, Lamont area resident, pleaded not guilty in superior court Friday to charges of drive by shooting and second degree assault Jan. 2.
Hayes remains in jail in lieu of posting bond for pre-trial release. His bond has been set at $350,000 surety or $35,000 cash.
Hayes has been charged with shooting at the farm shop of a neighbor, Rowdy Brown, who lives on Spuler Road.
He has been scheduled for a readiness hearing Feb. 7 and trial Feb. 17.
ANOTHER WARRANT ON ASHLOCK
Dustin Ashlock, 34, the "white camo" suspect in two November car cases at Colfax, failed to appear in court Friday morning for a readiness hearing on burglary charges dating back to July 10. The hearing was set in advance of a trial which was slated to begin Jan. 21 in superior court.
Judge Gary Libey ordered a warrant be issued for Ashlock's arrest and a $2,500 bail posted to guarantee his appearance Friday be forfeited.
Colfax police were called out to investigate two cases Nov. 21.
The suspect in the cases was reported to be wearing a white camo outfit.
The case involved damage to a window of an employee's car at Les Schwab and a car prowl case of a customer's car at Rosauers.
When deputies learned Colfax police were looking for a suspect wearing white camo, a deputy recalled Ashlock wore a white camo outfit when he appeared in court that day.
He was later identified as the suspect in the two Colfax vehicle cases.
Today's Jan. 10 court date was set on the day Ashlock had made his appearance in court in the white camo outfit.
The prosecutor's office has also filed a motion to revoke Ashlock's pre-trial release in the burglary case because he is suspected to breaking the law while on pre-trial release. A warrant for his arrest was also issued at that time.
The burglary charge alleges Ashlock and another suspect took items out of a farm shop building on Little Goose Dam Road below Hay July 10.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges, and preparations started to conduct a trial on the charges. Friay's court date would have been the last session prior to the start of the trial.
