Serving Whitman County since 1877
The largest commercial project for Whitman County in 2019 has risen just across the stateline from Moscow.
Two expansive buildings, covering 30,000 square feet, have been built for the new St. John Hardware and Implement location.
"They're closed-in but a lot of interior work still to go in," said co-owner Scott Hennessey.
One section of concrete flooring in the main building has been poured, with two sections remaining, the flooring at 25 percent complete.
"It's just a shell of a building at this point in time," Hennessey said.
The rear building will be the shop, with the front, larger building facing the highway to be used 60 percent for a parts warehouse and 40 percent for office space and showroom/retail.
The shop will also expand on the previous north Moscow location.
"It will be clean and open and much more capable of handling today's large equipment," Hennessey said.
The operation is expected to open after harvest 2020, in September or October.
"We're pleased with the progress. Construction has been going well," said Hennessey.
The new operation will offer sales, service and parts for farm equipment as well as Carquest auto parts.
At the previous Moscow location, at Jackson Street/Highway 95, a four-story, 70,000 square-foot headquarters is being built for EMSI, a Moscow-based software company.
