Boyer Park set to open April 1

On Monday, March 9, Sarah Highland, port communications director, presented to the Port Commissioners the opening day for Boyer Park and planning updates for the Snake River Family Festival.

Boyer Park and Marina/Snake River KOA will have its season kick-off April 1 and run through Nov. 24.

“They will have kayaks and they received adult tricycles for this season,” Highland said.

Store hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday-Sunday from April 1-May 1 and Sept. 8-Nov. 24. During the peak season, from May 1-Sept. 8, the store will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday.

The restaurant will be open from noon to 5 p.m., Friday to Sunday, between April 1-May 1. From May 1- Sept. 8, the days and hours expand from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday.

Along with the opening of Boyer Park, Highland mentioned that planning has started on the Snake River Family Festival and everything is on track like it should be.

The Snake River Family Festival is scheduled for May 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Boyer Park and Marina. The expected attendance is approximately 500 people.

Sammy Eubanks, blues, country and rock n' roll singer will once again be providing entertainment this year at the festival.

FIN, the large fiberglass migrating salmon will also be present at the festival.

Local catering businesses received a request for proposals on Feb. 26 to cater the event. Proposals from businesses are due to the Port on March 18 and a caterer will be chosen by April 2.

Highland did mention that there are some possible changes coming to this year's festival that haven't been there before.

“We will try to get an obstacle course from All Star Jump in Spokane,” Highland said. “This is pending approval from the Port's insurance company.”

The obstacle course would be for older children and teens and a bounce house would be provided for those 12 and under.

Port staff has also received quotes for face painting at the festival.
