Art and Colene Sager flew their plane to Joseph, Ore., a week ago Thursday. It was a beautiful day and the Wallowa Mountains were majestic with the sun shining on the snow. It was warm enough that they sat outside on a street bench eating their “take-out.” Joseph airport has a courtesy car to get from the airport into town, so besides the beautiful area, it is their favorite place to fly just for the joy of flying.
At the beginning of March, Karen Broeckel was in Spokane for a week of baby and critter sitting at the home of her sister, Patty Wieber, for Broeckel’s one-year old great nephew, Max Halbig, son of niece Jamie Halbig and her husband Bobby, three dogs, a bird and some fish. Wieber, her son Brett, daughter Jamie and son-in-law Bobby Halbig had all gone to Las Vegas for the WCC Basketball tournament. They are avid Gonzaga Bulldog fans. Broeckel had a lot of help from great-nephew Andrew Nolan, his friend Hanna Monsen, Jamie’s mother-in-law and Jamie’s friend especially after Broeckel wrenched her back and could no longer lift the 25+ lb. Max. The tournament venue was shut down after the WCC Tournament due to the coronavirus.
