PULLMAN –Two men were booked into Whitman County Jail Sunday, April 26, in connection with theft at Walmart.
Pullman Police responded Sunday afternoon to a report of a theft suspect fleeing Walmart on foot and getting into a Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Officer Ryan McNannay was informed a male suspect had allegedly been taking items off the shelves and returning them for credit without paying first. A second suspect was allegedly "under ringing" items, which means scanning the barcode of cheaper items when buying.
The Chevrolet was stopped on South Grand Ave. The driver was identified as Timothy Redmond, 56. Walmart security footage allegedly showed him under ringing items which were found in the trunk of the car. When arrested for the theft, a baggie Redmond confessed contained meth was found in his pants pocket.
The passenger of the car was identified as Benjamin Krohn, 20. Redmond advised officers of additional thefts by Krohn.
Redmond was booked for possession of meth and theft. Krohn was booked for burglary and theft of retail with extenuating circumstances. Both were allowed pretrial release on their own recognizance and ordered to stay out of Walmart.
