Traffic stop nets meth arrest

Donald Rohwer, 37, was booked into Whitman County Jail May 11 after a traffic stop lead to the discovery of methamphetamine in the vehicle he was driving.

According to the arrest report, Whitman County Deputy Tyler Langerveld pulled Rohwer over on SR 271 near the McCoy Grain Terminal at about 1:30 a.m. when he observed a vehicle had a brake light that did not work. Rohwer allegedly told Deputy Langerveld during the stop that he had never had a driver's license. Whitcom advised that Rohwer had a suspended license in the third degree.

Rohwer was arrested for driving with a suspended license. During the exchange, Deputy Langerveld noticed signs and behaviors that Rohwer was under the effects of a stimulant, according to the report.

As search of the vehicle yielded two bags and a vile with white crystal residue and a box of unused hypodermic needles. The white substance tested positive for methamphetamine.

Bail was set at $10,000 surety or $1,000 with arraignment set for May 15.
