Pullman Farmers Market set to open May 20

PULLMAN – The Pullman Farmers Market is returning for its 12th season to offer the community a mid-week farmers market. Farmers markets are considered essential businesses in the appendix of the “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” Proclamation 20-25 under the Food and Agriculture sector; this listing allows for the Pullman Farmers Market and its vendors to operate. After using guidance from the Safe Start Washington plan, and receiving approval from Washington State University, the Pullman Farmers Market will offer a modified market that provides access to fresh foods and personal hygiene products, with other vendors allowed as space is available.

Additional measures as part of the approved operations plan at this time include but are not limited to: maintaining six-foot physical distancing for vendors and patrons, encouraging efficient shopping by prohibiting samples of products and the on-site consumption of food, limiting the number of customers to no more than 10 patrons on the lawn portion of the market and providing hand sanitizer and/or temporary hand washing stations for patrons and staff.

Until further notice, the Pullman Farmers Market will not offer live entertainment or children's programming. Vital food access programs for SNAP/EBT, WIC and Seniors Farmers Market Nutrition Program recipients in Whitman County are scheduled to be provided.

Patrons, shoppers and community members can help keep the Pullman Farmers Market open by respecting the visual social distancing cues, using contactless mobile payment applications when possible, pre-ordering/pre-paying with vendors and sending one member from their household to shop.
