PULLMAN – The National Lentil Festival is postponing its 2020 celebration to August 20-21, 2021. The Pullman Chamber of Commerce announced the move June 1, citing concern for the health and safety of the community.
"This postponement has allowed us to be creative and find ways to carry on traditions for 2020. We are working through the details of a new format of Legendary Lentil Cook-off. We will be contacting individuals who have submitted recipes with updated format rules by June 15," stated Director Britnee Christen.
The chamber is also partnering with Pullman Parks and Recreation for a virtual Tase T. Lentil 5K Fun Run. Registration for the 5K will open on June 8 at http://www.lentilfest.com. In lieu of a registration fee, the chamber asks people to donate to the Pullman Parks and Recreation "Care to Share" Program.
Other micro-events are in the works, and will be announced as more details come available.
Those who have registered as vendors will be contacted within a week to discuss their options. Grand Parade registrants will be contacted to discuss involvement in 2021.
