Serving Whitman County since 1877
Let's review our national time since November 2016:
"Tyranny." "Fake news." "Hoax." "Enemy of the people." Have you noticed that these and his other accusations apply more to our president than anyone/anything else?
The president does not know many things, and he certainly does not know how to lead. It has taken only a lowly virus for more and more Americans to realize that our would-be emperor has no attire except a long red tie (made in China).
The president does not know how to lead and ignores any good leadership advice offered to him. He couldn't even lead a horse to water.
Nowhere is this more clear than his failure to protect us from Covid-19. He could have done what New Zealand's leader did, but then, she's a woman...
If he had uniformly locked down the USA all at the same time...
If he had used presidential powers to force production of N-95 masks and personal protective equipment so desperately needed by our first responders...
If he had ordered 14-day quarantines for travelers...
You know what?
Then, when the hot spots were contained and controlled, we would not have had all these deaths and so many Americans sick. The virus could not have rampantly spread, and when it occurred, it could have been corralled.
The virus is lowly, but it is dangerous. Many infected people show no or little clinical signs, but that does not mean the virus hasn't already set up a slow and deadly attack on human body organs, such as the heart, liver and brain, with damaging effects to show up later. Even some healthy youth have had heart problems and we can only hope those won't be permanent.
The president's failure to stop the virus, leaving it to each state, caused a hodge-podge of inconsistent efforts, with much action coming too little too late.
Only President Trump's lack of leadership needs to be unmasked. Trump's term of carnage against the American people must end - may it be so, in November.
