State counts 'probable' death

COLFAX – Whitman County has reached 53 positive COVID-19 cases. The Emergency Operations Center announced three more positive cases July 9 and one July 14.

There have been 14 positive cases announced since the beginning of the month, 10 male, four female. The largest demographic is males in the 20-39 age range. The cases announced July 9 were for a male and female in the 0-19 age range and a male in the 20-39 range. The most recent was a female in the 20-39 age range.

The one case that was hospitalized is no longer, but officials could not clarify if that individual was isolating at home or recovered. To date, 46 have recovered and seven are stable, isolating at home.

The Department of Health released a COVID death data report earlier this week. In the report, Whitman County was listed as having one probable death. Whitman County Public Health is not aware of any fatality from COVID-19, according to Director Troy Henderson. Henderson attributed it to a reporting error on the part of DOH, saying the county has had issues with the state data set for four months.
