Hearing set on marijuana moratorium

COLFAX – Will the county commissioners extend the six-month moratorium on new marijuana operations in the county for a third time?

An online/call-in public hearing has been set for Aug. 31 at 10:30 a.m. to decide.

The Whitman County planning commission has been working to write a new ordinance for commercial marijuana operations. Their work has been limited in recent months by virus restrictions.

“There’s nobody beating down the door to put in more marijuana facilities,” said Mark Storey, Public Works director, advising for another extension.

The current moratorium expires Sept. 4.
