No peaches this year at Penawawa

Brian Jones has announced that due to an untimely frost, there are no apricots or peaches for sale at Warm Springs Ranch this year.

A late frost around Mother’s Day killed off the crop. Temperatures hit 28 degrees. Jones said he can’t remember ever losing the whole crop before. The orchard has lost some of its yield in the past, but never to point it won’t open.

Warm Springs Ranch is a remnant of the many orchards that use to grow along the Snake River in the Penawawa area. Penawawa was one of the communities that were erased when with the construction of Snake River dams raised the river level.
