Serving Whitman County since 1877

Resource center established at Malden

MALDEN—The Babb Road Fire Recovery Group in conjunction with the Washington Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster and its community partners will open a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) in Malden, on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25 and 26, 2020, at the temporary Malden City Hall. The temporary city hall is located in the town’s park.

The Malden MARC will serve Whitman County primarily, but anyone affected by the 2020 wildfires can come to the MARC for services and resources.

The MARC will offer impacted residents access to a variety of recovery resources, including financial assistance for those who qualify, from multiple relief agencies.

The MARC brings recovery resources and offers residents convenient access to agencies in one central location. The American Red Cross, Catholic Charities, United Way of Whitman Co., United Methodist Committee of Relief, are just a few of the organizations that will be available at the MARC.

According to Gerry Bozarth, with the Babb Road Fire Recovery Group, if citizens have any documents that would provide proof where they lived, identification or any official documents, they are encouraged to bring them. But “totally understand if everything burned up in the fire,” he said.
