Booked for possession

COLFAX—A Deer Park man has been booked into Whitman County Jail for possession after allegedly attempting to hide a syringe during a traffic stop.

According to the police report filed with Whitman County Superior Court, Deputy Cory Alcantar initiated a traffic stop along Highway 195. While speaking to the driver, he allegedly observed a loaded syringe in the front center storage area.

The drive and deputy spoke outside the vehicle. When Deputy Alcantar returned to the vehicle, the syringe had allegedly been moved. The only other occupant was a passenger identified as Duncan Mead, 25. Mead exit...
