Serving Whitman County since 1877
Karl Webber of Tekoa was appointed Thursday as the new District One commissioner for the Port of Whitman. He was sworn-in after he and three other applicants interviewed at the Port office in Colfax in a socially-distant format.
Webber, a resident of Tekoa for more than 30 years, works in consulting/manufacturing in process improvement and organizational development. On the side, he runs a hobby business making custom fly rods.
He now joins fellow commissioners Tom Kammerzell and Kristine Meyer, in a position to go up for election next November. He takes over for retired commissioner John Love of Garfield.
Other applicants were Charles Petras, who lives between Farmington and Garfield, James Babb of Rosalia and Nathan Weller, a Pullman city councilman.
