Winter storm warning through Saturday morning

COLFAX – Heavy snow for Whitman County is predicted for Friday by the National Weather Service.

The warning is in effect from Friday, Oct. 23, at 5 p.m. through Saturday, Oct. 24, at 5 a.m.

"Heavy snow expected for the Palouse along and east of Highway 195. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches with local amounts up to 7 inches possible," stated the weather service.

Areas listed for the warning are Colfax, Rosalia, Oakesdale, Tekoa, Uniontown, Moscow, Plummer, Potlatch, Genesee, and Pullman.

"Travel could be very difficult. Heavy wet snow may lead to broken tree limbs and power outages," states the weather service. "If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency."
