COLFAX–The Thrifty Grandmothers granted four requests, mostly to schools, at their Oct. 12 meeting, totaling $3,050. Two of those recipients were the Colfax School District; $500 to the Jennings Elementary Compassion Fund which supplies students with needed items or aid, and $2,000 to the Colfax School District Employee Wellness Day, an event put on by the district to show appreciation and reduce stress for staff.
A gift of $150 was given to the Tekoa School District to cover the cost of a videographer for the making of a video about the dangers of texting and driving.
The Union Gospel Mission received $250.
