Depot receives $100,000

PULLMAN — The Pullman Depot Heritage Center recently received a $100,000 donation from a local resident.

Mary Schweitzer donated the funds toward the Fix the Bricks campaign to finance the beginning phase of Northern Pacific depot restoration.

The amount is the largest donation since the campaign began in late August, officials said. An additional $18,000 has been raised from more than 50 patrons.

The initial step toward converting the historic 1916 depot into a new Heritage Center will include a restoration of the building’s exterior.

The expected total cost for the exterior work is $400,000; fundraising efforts are continuing.
