Wreath sponsors sought in Steptoe

STEPTOE — Donations are being sought to sponsor wreaths for veterans at Bethel Cemetery.

Bethel is one of more than 1,640 cemeteries nationwide participating in Wreaths Across America on Dec. 19.

Veterans buried at Bethel Cemetery served in the Civil War, Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, Korean War and more current conflicts. There are 115 veterans buried there.

Each year on National Wreaths Across America Day, volunteers gather to say their names out loud so they are never forgotten.

Many of the veterans do not have family to remember them, local coordinator CherryAlice Van Tine said.

Youth from Steptoe School lay the wreaths on their graves.
