Library to make voluntary changes

COLFAX — The Whitman County Library District has canceled all in-person programs in response to Gov. Jay Inslee’s new quarantine orders.

The programs were shuttered Nov. 17.

While the governor’s orders do not specifically mention libraries, district officials shut down in-person activities as a precaution, library officials said. The governor’s orders do prohibit gatherings of five or more people.

Other changes include occupancy level for all location will be reduced to 25% and browsing time is limited to 15 minutes a day and computer use to 30 minutes a day.

Curbside pickup is still available, library officials said.

Library Director Kylie Fullmer said there will be restrictions on the annual Festival of Trees and Winterfest, too.

There will be limited time for people to be in The Center looking at trees, she said, adding that they will be visible through the front window.

The public can view trees from outside and vote for their favorites online, she said.
