COLFAX — The annual Winterfest parade has been canceled for this year, but the fireworks show which always capped the collection of floats, tractors and Santa will still light up the sky. Fireworks are set to ignite at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3.
The Colfax Chamber of Commerce announced the change last week.
Due to recent coronavirus restrictions, Santa will not be making his regular visit to the library to hear wishes and take pictures.
The library is hosting a Storytime with Santa and Mrs. Claus over Zoom on Dec. 17, so youth can still see and talk to him in a virtual setting. Families wanting to join Storytime need to RSVP by calling the library. While the venue may be different, it will be the same face of Santa Claus youth have seen at the library for the past few years.
Another alteration to the normal Winterfest itinerary is in the Festival of Trees.
Seven trees are stationed in the front window of The Center, 110 S. Main St., and can all be viewed from the sidewalk. Residents are invited to view the trees through the glass and vote online for their favorites at http://www.whitco.lib.wa.us.
Voting closes Dec. 19.
