Fireworks' early launch was due to error

COLFAX — The Colfax Chamber of Commerce is blaming miscommunication for the early launch of fireworks Dec. 3.

The Winterfest fireworks display went off at 6 p.m. instead of the planned 6:30 p.m.

“It’s just 2020,” chamber President Nancy Cochran said, chalking up the premature launch to miscommunication with the pyrotechnic team, with no finger being pointed at one individual or incident.

“We apologize immensely,” she said.

Usually, the Colfax Downtown Association coordinates the annual fireworks.
