Serving Whitman County since 1877
Since the moment our founders signed their names to the bottom of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, the U.S. has been organized by a successful moral and ethical code.
We were a nation formed by protestant immigrants and a smattering of Catholics that broke free of England under a new Constitution and Bill of Rights. Over time, Catholics, American Indian, blacks, Hispanics, Asians and other new Americans, to include Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, and atheists, have successfully joined with the protestant majority governing America.
In a “mostly peaceful” manner — the Civil War being one exception— these groups slowly adapted, together. America grew and prospered. Our Constitution worked.
John Adams, our nation’s second president, 200 years ago, described what was critically needed to ensure the success of our Constitution and nation: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
This factual truth, that America has always been an openly Christian nation, represented the critical explanation for our long-lasting republic.
Today, a real movement of anti-Christians is attempting to end America’s status as a Christian nation.
Thanks to the Democratic Party, Christian morality has been replaced by a nihilistic “woke” culture fixed on race, power, feelings and sex that is separated from any written moral codes or truths. Unless reversed, the end of America as a free and prosperous nation is inevitable, so long as we continue to kill or contracept the next generation of children needed to prosper.
As we slide towards a China-like totalitarian culture, government has begun to regulate our every waking moment.
British writer Douglas Murray describes this movement as having caused an “Age of Mass Derangement,” where “people are behaving in ways that are increasingly irrational, feverish, herd-like and unpleasant” – ways which are destroying civilization. Murray recognizes that this “poisonous divisiveness” and “sinister” movement has started mandating “reeducation” efforts in the public schools, government agencies, nonprofits, and now in private corporations.
While correctly identifying that we have a civilization-ending problem, like many other smart thinkers, Murray is not quite able to champion the correct “cure” to our world-wide madness— faith.
As the flock is either killed by the contraceptive and abortion culture or stolen away from parents by diversity “reeducation” programs that now dominate our schools, the Christian population in Washington state is now shrinking almost 2% per year. The Episcopal Church, once considered a leading Christian denomination in America, is now predicted by some researchers to be dead in 20 years!
In earlier times, Christians would evangelize or preach or send missionaries to counter evil. Unfortunately today, many would rather lament over the President’s Twitter feed, or join the social justice warriors’ latest distraction (Black Lives Matter, immigration, climate change), or worst-of-all, complain about the “divisive” language coming from vocal Christians who are of countering the madness, faithlessness, and destruction.
So many have bought into the unreal belief that our nation’s salvation will only come from larger and more controlling governments.
Truly, this is an age of mass derangement.
