Serving Whitman County since 1877
Joyce Willene Gaiser, 98, passed peacefully on January 9th, 2021.
Joyce's beautiful soul entered this world when she was born to Hugh Evans and Gladys Mur on January 21st, 1922, in Winona, Wash. Joyce wore many titles in her extraordinary life; her favorites being wife, mother and grandmother. There was nothing Joyce did half-heartly and that was evident in the lives of her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Some may have looked at Joyce and saw a homemaker, and while she was an exceptional one, she was also so much more! Joyce made it a priority to be involved in lending a helping hand to her husband Lewis Loyd Gaiser. Joyce worked alongside Lewis first when they decided to start their own trucking company, "LewJoy".
After thirteen years they gravitated back to the home she was born in and began their dream of starting a ranching operation. Out of all this hard work blossomed Sunrise Ranch, a place that became known to many as their home and a place of serenity. Joyce's days were filled with raising children and grandchildren, driving school bus, helping Lewis on the ranch, showing and working their beautiful Percheron Draft horses, going to numerous plowing and thrashing bees, trail riding all over the northwest, and so much more.
There wasn't a person that met Joyce that was not just smitten with her, her beauty and kindness radiated in every aspect of her life. Some would say that her greatest pleasure consisted of caring for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all kinds of foster relationships. Joyce didn't know a stranger, anyone that stepped foot inside their home became family.
Joyce Willene Gaiser is survived by her three daughters, Salina Edwards, Collene Colva and Evan Van Tine; eight grandchildren; countless great-grandchildren; and all kinds of foster relationships. Joyce is predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Lewis Loyd Gaiser, her parents Hugh Evans and Gladys Mur, several of her siblings, and her great-grandson Chico Gonzales.
There will be a graveside service to honor Joyce on Thursday, January 14th at 1 p.m. Bruning Funeral Home is caring for the family. On-line condolences may be made at http://www.bruningfuneralhome.com.
