COLFAX — Colfax School District plans to address a learning gap attributed to students’ time away in online learning.
Superintendent Jerry Pugh gave a report Monday night to the school board.
The district received information analyzed through the Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) testing. It showed Colfax students have a significant loss in math.
“We’ll have 7-12 weeks of backing up to learn the content that they missed,” Pugh said.
He cited an example of fourth- and fifth-grade students learning fractions.
“If they haven’t learned fractions, that will impact them through the rest of their math career,” said Pugh. “I’m really confident that we’ll close that loss gap.”
Pugh is working with administrators and teachers on the plan, including District Curriculum Coach Brenda Kneeshaw.
No loss has been found for English and Language Arts.
