ASB cards may be waived for 'fall' season

COLFAX – ASB cards and gate fees may be waived for the Colfax “fall” sports season.

Superintendent Jerry Pugh gave a sports update to the school board Monday night.

Pugh attended a superintendent’s meeting last week with Northeast 2B League leaders and is scheduled to attend another on Thursday to continue discussion of items such as ASB cards, gate fees and how to allot the limited fans’ entry permitted at games.

“Right now, we’re looking at not worrying about ASB cards this year,” Pugh said.

Gate receipts are another item that may be waived.

The Colfax cross-country team is cleared to start preparations and football is practicing in six-player pods.

Pugh told the board that games are subject to be canceled as necessary as time goes forward.

“Fingers are crossed,” said Pugh. “The frustrating thing, our local (virus) numbers are low. We’re kind of at the mercy of what happens in Spokane County ... Plenty of us have voiced our concerns to the state. I don’t expect anything to change any time soon.”

The next measure of Eastern Region virus numbers will be Feb. 12 and the next in two weeks.
