COLFAX — Colfax Police Chief Bruce Blood warns residents to be aware of scams regarding COVID-19 vaccine distribution.
Blood noted people should be wary when:
• Asked to pay out of pocket for the vaccine
• Asked to pay to get early access
• Asked to be pay to be placed on a waiting list
• Someone offers to sell vaccines or ship doses in return for payment
People should not respond to ads for vaccines coming across social media platforms, over the phone, e-mail, online, or from unsolicited or unknown sources, Blood said.
Do not give your personal information to unknown sources.
People believing they may have been a victim of vaccines fraud should report it to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General hotline at 1-800-HHS-TIPS.
