Serving Whitman County since 1877
On Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, Mary Ethel Tucker, age 93, rode her final trail in this life and went to enjoy a new life with the Master of Creation.
Mary was born in Spokane, Wash., on Sept. 20, 1927, to Rod and Ethel (Beck) Hill. She went to Catholic School through 8th grade then graduated from Rogers High School.
Mary married Ervin Tucker on Feb. 12, 1949. They had two sons, and in 1954 the family moved to the farm near Sacheen Lake, Wash. Mary loved active farm life with all the animals, but mostly her Arabian horses. She loved her horses so much that she started the N.W. Ladies Trail Ride. Mary was trail boss for close to 50 years. She also attended numerous other benefit rides for various causes.
Three years ago, Mary left the farm and moved to Rosalia, Wash., to be near her son, Clinton (Terrie). She took an independent apartment and lived with her little dog, Sparky. Mary enjoyed cooking her own meals: bacon and eggs, liver and onions, pot roast and ribeye steaks were her favorites. Mary was an early riser and did crossword puzzles every morning.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ervin Sr .; her son, Ervin Jr .; and her brother, Rod. She is survived by her son, Clinton (Terrie) Tucker; grandsons, Scott (Danielle) Tucker and Nick (Kristy) Tucker; and great-grandchildren, Marley, Caroline, Brayden, Garrett, and Layla Tucker; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
As per her wishes, there will be no service. The family will gather at the farm in the summer. She was loved and we miss her.
