Serving Whitman County since 1877
POTLATCH, Idaho — A Whitman County resident was killed in a crash Saturday afternoon west of the city on State Highway 6.
Kurt A. Brantner, 56, of Palouse, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred about 2:35 p.m. near milepost 101, just east of the Idaho state line and about 7 miles west of Latah County, according to the Idaho State Patrol.
Brantner was westbound on Highway 6 in a 2016 Jeep Wrangler, the state patrol stated. After passing another vehicle, he lost control of the jeep, veering onto the right shoulder, crossing the center line, and flipping his vehicle.
He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the state patrol, noting that next of kin was notified of Brantner’s death.
Brantner is the second member of the family to die in a crash in Idaho in recent years.
His sister, Lori Brantner Nagle, was killed in an ATV crash in 2015 near Elk River, Idaho.
