Serving Whitman County since 1877
Hill had traveled more than 450,000 miles with COAST
COLFAX — COAST Transportation volunteer and staff driver, Bob Hill, spent 17 years driving 950 community members more than 450,000 miles to access crucial services.
Hill drove more miles than any other COAST volunteer – sometimes more than 2500 miles in one month, according to a representative.
When things were a bit quiet Hill would stop by, or call the office to tell us to find him a client to drive. He loved driving, and he certainly loved chatting along the way.
The Council on Aging and Human Services and COAST Transportation wanted to share their deep appreciation for Hill and for his many years of dedication and service to the residents of Whitman County.
Hill passed away February 3.
“We are all deeply saddened by this loss of our friend and colleague,” stated Paige Collins of COAST.
As one office staff member wrote … “The impact that Bob Hill had on our community over the past years with COAST has been irrefutably astounding. He has been a hero and a savior to those in need, never judged or criticized – only the one to serve, help and support no matter what. Truly a man of greatness to aspire to ... We will miss you, Bob.”
