COLFAX — The online filing period for political candidates begins May 17 for Whitman County.
Applications to run for office are due by 4 p.m. on May 21 to be on the ballot for the November election, according to the Whitman County Auditor’s Office.
People have until May 24 to change their mind and withdraw candidacy.
If any offices have no declared candidates, a three-day special filing period is from May 25-27.
Offices open for election in November include:
• Albion – 2 councilmembers
• Colfax – 2 councilmembers
• Colton – 2 councilmembers
• Endicott – 2 councilmembers
• Farmington – mayor and 3 councilmembers
• Garfield – mayor and 4 councilmembers
• LaCrosse – mayor and 4 councilmembers
• Lamont – mayor and 5 councilmembers
• Malden – mayor and 2 councilmembers
• Oakesdale – mayor and 3 councilmembers
• Palouse – 6 councilmembers
• Pullman – 3 ward district positions
• Rosalia – mayor and 3 councilmembers
• St. John – 3 councilmembers
• Tekoa – 3 councilmembers
• Uniontown – mayor and 3 councilmembers
• Two Port of Whitman County commissioners
• Eight hospital district board members for four districts
Numerous school board positions are up for election for Cheney, Colfax, Colton, Endicott, Garfield, LaCrosse, Lamont, Oakesdale, Palouse, Pullman, Rosalia, Steptoe, St. John, Tekoa, and Washtucna school districts.
Various fire districts, cemetery district, sewer district and parks and recreation district positions are also open.
