Wristbands are required to attend on June 5
COLFAX — Plans are taking shape in limiting attendance for the Colfax High School graduation on June 5.
The ceremony starts at 11 a.m. in the football stadium.
Principal David Gibb announced the school’s plans for COVID-19 restrictions.
For people to attend, they must have a wristband provided by the graduating student. Each graduate may distribute 10 wristbands to family and friends to sit in the stadium.
If bad weather pushes the event into the school auditorium, four of them will be allowed entrance for an indoor ceremony.
For seating on the football field, a drawing will be held to determine where each graduate’s family and friends group will sit. Spectators will be permitted to bring lawn chairs and blankets. They will be required to sign a form declaring a lack of COVID-19 symptoms before entering the stadium.
Mask and social-distancing guidelines are required.
Following the ceremony, cars are being arranged in a line to follow vehicles from the Colfax Police Department, Colfax Fire Department, and Whitman County Sheriff’s Office for a parade through town. The route has not been designated.
No community or family or friends are allowed on school district property once the parade is complete.
For people who cannot attend in-person, a live broadcast is offered on the school district’s YouTube channel.
