Colfax wrestling sees Noha return with new coach

COLFAX - The Colfax High School wrestling team is back in action for 2021, with nine wrestlers.

Bulldog senior Caden Noha, who took second in the state last year at 170 pounds, won all three of his matches (182), while teammate Trentin Ensley, a junior, won both of his at Liberty on May 20.

"I've been coaching a long time and (Noha) has real talent. He brims with confidence. He never thinks he's going to lose," said Art Powers.

For girls, freshman Sidney Sisk wrestled in Othello on May 22. She won two and lost one.

The boys wrestle at Reardan next, which could be an outdoor match to allow for more fans. The season concludes on June 18 with a culminating event for the Bi-County 2B League. No state tournament will follow.

Powers is the new Colfax wrestling coach. He taught special education in Colfax for 15 years, this being his 32nd year teaching. He previously coached wrestling at 3A and 4A schools in Nevada and 10 years leading the Pullman High School team.

Powers takes after Dennis Gransbery left for a job in Europe.
