Homeless man tries to use skateboard to rob couple

PULLMAN – Two bar employees stopped a homeless man from robbing a Pullman couple by threatening them with a skateboard.

Roland G. Davis, 30, a homeless person, was charged in Whitman County Superior Court on May 18 with attempted robbery in the second degree. His last known address was Salem, Ore.

An elderly couple was walking on Grand Avenue in Pullman on May 17 when they were confronted by a man wielding a skateboard in a threatening manner, according to a police report.

"He yelled, 'Give me money.' He then started yelling, 'Empty your wallets!' He said that about three times," wrote Pullman police officer Sgt, Aaron Breshears.

Employees from Pauly's Bar and Grill came out and one yelled at the suspected robber and the other called 9-1-1. After an argument with the employee, the suspect walked away.

An officer stopped and detained Davis on Bishop Street, near Safeway. The victims reportedly identified him as the person trying to rob them, according to Breshears' report.

Davis was arrested and booked into the jail in Colfax.
