County parks begins fire restrictions

COLFAX — Fire restrictions began June 14 at all Whitman County managed parks and trails

Parks Kamiak Butte, Wawawai, and Klemgard are under the restrictions.

“Campfires and smoking on trails will not be permitted within park boundaries.” stated spokesperson Dave Mahan. “Fireworks are also not allowed. Cooking with charcoal briquettes or gas grills are still options.”

Park visitors should keep a bucket of water and shovel nearby when cooking, stated Mahan.
