Dusty news

Visitors at the home of Art and Colene Sager were Vern and Dolores Sager, Middleton, Idaho, and Floyd and Linda Sager, Meridian, Idaho. They all attended a celebration Saturday afternoon where Colene was honored for being chosen International Flying Farmer Woman of the Year for 2019-2020. Every year at the International Flying Farmer convention, there is a Man of the Year (MOY) and Woman of the Year (WOY) honored. Someone has to nominate the person with the criteria of flying background, family, business, church, and community activities, chapter and international flying farmer activities. Colene was chosen at the Wichita, Kansas, International Flying Farmer Convention in July 2019. COVID restrictions halted conventions and banquets, so this was a rescheduled event honoring Colene. Memorable Events, of St. John, catered the event for 35 people, including Patricia Amdor, Mansfield, Illinois, the Business Manager for International Flying Farmers. The celebration was held in the Barney Buckley hangar at the Colfax airport.

The Dick Appel 's held a family picnic to celebrate the Fourth of July. Those attending were Bruce and Elaine Appel and Charlie, Spokane; Eric and Shannon Appel and Sidney, Kyle and his friend Amy and Connor, Dusty; Caroline and Rob Kunkel, Kade, Elly and Lucien, Pullman; Neil and Liz Appel, Josh, Noemi, Issac, John Paul, Grace, Michael and Charlotte, Dusty; and Lisa and Travis and Miriam, Rachel, Emma and Colette. A highlight for the youngsters big and small, was a giant water slide made from a huge sheet of black plastic, spread out in the front sheep pasture; watered by irrigation pipe, and Neil's water truck. This was an invention of Eric's and much enjoyed.

Weekend guest of Karen Broeckel was her sister, Patty Wieber, of Spokane. Wieber treated Broeckel, Andrew Nolan and his daughter Murphy and Hanna Monsen to dinner in Moscow Friday evening to celebrate Broeckel's birthday. Saturday, Wieber and Broeckel visited with Brian and Angela Broeckel and Graham and Kim BeDell and boys, Kuna, Idaho. The women got to play with 1-year-old Dawson and 2-month-old Lane. The grandparents were overnight babysitting while the parents went to a wedding in Oregon. When the parents returned on Sunday, they took Dawson for his first time boating on the Snake River. Wieber returned home Sunday and BeDells returned home on Monday.
