Serving Whitman County since 1877
PULLMAN - Six Whitman County high school seniors are competing to represent the state of Washington at the 2022 America's Distinguished Young Women Program.
There is no audience on Aug. 7 during the program due to COVID safety measures.
"This is the state's 64th annual scholarship program. Its goal is to emphasize education by providing scholarship opportunities to outstanding college-bound high school girls, and to encourage personal development in all young people," said event co-chair Danielle Kallaher.
Participants are judged in scholastic achievement, talent, fitness, and "self-expression routines" to determine who receives scholarships.
Participating this year are Macy Hardin, of Clarkston, Ava Hasenoehrl, of Clarkston, Emma Bryson, of Colfax Maggie Meyer, of Colton-Uniontown, Denni Fealy, of Garfield-Palouse, and Katie Wheatley, of Pullman.
