COLFAX — Congress member Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers spoke to people assembled at the McGregor Company on the subject of agriculture.
She gave an update of what she has been working on in Congress, highlighting her "all of the above" energy strategy, including support for hydropower, protecting Lower Snake River dams and more.
A presentation followed from a representative from Farm Services Agency regarding resources for growers dealing with drought and high temperatures.
The morning session concluded with questions and answers.
Rodgers commented that she is hearing about labor shortages everywhere she goes. She noted higher unemployment payments over the past year and a half, since the start of the pandemic.
"I fear that's been a disincentive to get back to work," she said.
The town hall was a part of a series of meetings McMorris Rodgers held in the past week during the August recess of Congress.
She has appeared at forums in Spokane, Republic, Colville, Walla Walla, and Colfax.
