Marguerite R. McInerny

Nov. 4, 1919 – July 31, 2021

Our beloved Mother, Marguerite R. McInerny, passed away unexpectedly on July 31, 2021, at 101 years of age. We count our blessings as her daughters that we had the support and unconditional love of "Mother" or "Mama" (as we called her) throughout many years of our lives.

In reflecting on our mother, we remember her as a very pretty lady that was always concerned about her appearance right up to the end of her life. Mama was a dedicated homemaker that moved to Colfax, Washington, 64 years ago and dearly loved her home in the Southview neighborhood. She was an excellent cook (loved to bake), great gardener, as well as a talented seamstress and knitter. Mother had an independent spirit, definite opinions on matters, and was very determined to have things go "her way".

Due to failing health, Mama moved to The Courtyard at Colfax 5 years ago. Although all the staff were very accommodating, she had her favorite caregivers, Don (D.J.) Smith and Jack Hofstetler. Additionally, we are so very grateful for Mother's physician, Dr. Govind Singh, MD -- he afforded Mama with excellent care along with much compassion and kindness.

Marguerite was preceded in death by our father, John J. McInerny (1998); her sister and best friend, Barbara Dial (1998); her son-in-law, John Rodgers Simmons, with whom she shared a very special relationship (2019); and her three remaining siblings, namely Ernest Rohla, Theodore Rohla, and Christina Lane, all of whom were close to her.

Marguerite is survived by her daughters, Patricia and Kathleen; her son-in-law, James T. Latting; her grandchildren, Sunne Rochelle Meyer and Ian M. Pollart; along with extended family consisting of nephews, nieces, and cousins, especially notable being her nephew, William R. Lane, and her cousin, Bonita Rohla Pivar.

Until we meet again, may God bless you!!

We love you, Mama!!

PATRICIA SIMMONS and KATHLEEN LATTING
