OLYMPIA - Unemployment benefits paid for by federal programs end on Sept. 4.
The week ending on Sept. 4 is the last payable week for benefits under serval programs under the CARES Act, according to the state Unemployment Security Department.
Programs ending are:
Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) supplied self-employed, freelancers, independent contractors and others who don't qualify for regular unemployment benefits with money.
Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) extended benefits for 13 weeks after regular unemployment benefits would end
Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) paid a $300 a week
People receiving benefits are suggested to continue filing weekly claims and respond to future messages. Some people may continue to receive regular benefits.
"We will send you more information in your eServices account or by U.S. mail. Respond to any of our requests for information. Even if you have stopped claiming or found a job, we still might need to contact you," said a spokesperson.
For people needing to start applying for unemployment benefits, they can go online and visit esd.wa.gov/unemployment
"We're here to help you," said the spokesperson.
