OAKESDALE – The Oakesdale Nighthawks made it look easy as they beat the Odessa Tigers in three games on Sept. 7.
Oakesdale won 25-19, 25-10, and 25-14, according to Athletic Director Ken Lindgren.
"It was our first real match of the season. The girls were playing in front of their fans so there were a little jitters," said Coach McKinzie Turner. "We haven't had a chance to play our starting lineup yet due to injuries."
Their starting setter Samantha Holling was out with an injury, as well as All-League player Jessie Reed.
"We have some really good players that stepped up in their absence," said Turner.
Sophomore Payton Davis led Oakesdale with 6 aces and 23 assists.
Junior Gianna Anderson had 12 kills, 17 digs, and 3 blocks. Senior Bree Rawls also had 3 blocks.
Junior Emily Dingman was credited for stepping in to play for the injured Nighthawks.
"She has some good digs and several passes and played the ball very well," said Turner. "Hopefully everyone will be back next week."
