Project offers to scan old photos

ROSALIA — Whitman Heritage Digital Collections is offering to scan up to 15 old photographs to add it to the public collection.

A project of Whitman County Library, the group is visiting three library branches in October to scan and digitize historically significant photos from local community members, according to Director Kylie Fullmer.

People can bring up to 15 photos or documents to be digitized and added to the library’s online collection. After scanning, people keep their photos and documents and receive a complimentary digital copy.

Scanning takes place in Rosalia on Oct .12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The next opportunity is in Colton on Oct. 21 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Endicott is the last scanning opportunity on Oct. 26 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

“Whitman Heritage Digital Collections documents the early culture, industry, and community life of Whitman County, Washington, and locations throughout Washington’s Palouse Region. The collection is made possible with support and funding from a grant through the Washington State Library and the Institute of Museum and Library Services,” said Fullmer.
