Amos Dean Burlingame

Amos Dean Burlingame, 87, of Colfax, Wash., passed away October 9, 2021, at his Colfax home. A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the Colfax Cemetery.

He was born March 8, 1934, in Colfax to Calvin and Margaret (Baker) Burlingame. Dean grew up in Colfax and graduated from Colfax High School. He went to work at Feldman's Tire Company and also began his career at the age of 18 with the Colfax Fire Department. Dean entered the U.S. Army and served his country until his honorable discharge.

Returning to Colfax, he went back to work at Feldman's and on August 4, 1962, married Saundra Vercoe in Colfax. Together they made Colfax their home and he went to work at Feldman Brother's until they closed in the mid 1990's, and then to Jones Truck and Implement as a mechanic until his retirement. Dean not only raised his own family but also raised his grandchildren following the death of his daughter Wendy in 1998. He had a long and distinguished career with the Colfax Fire Department until his retirement in the early 2000's. He enjoyed fishing, camping and boating as well as spending time with his family in the outdoors.

He is survived by his sons Calvin Burlingame and Kevin Burlingame of Colfax; daughter Darci Burlingame of LaConner, Wash .; two sisters Lee Thomas and Ila (Roger) Baltrusch; his grandchildren Justin Hardgrove, Heather Hardgrove, Heidi White, Katie Rohrich, Deana Celli, Cody Rohrich and Matthew Burlingame, and his 17 great-grandchildren with one on the way due in December. In addition to his wife Saundra and daughter Wendy he was preceded in death by a brother, David Arvin Burlingame, and sister Karen Burlingame.
