Drugs discovered in vehicle going through Colfax

COLFAX – Seventy fentanyl tablets and 22 grams of methamphetamine were discovered in a vehicle in downtown Colfax on Dec. 2.

“This is the third traffic stop by deputies in the past week where a substantial quantity of narcotics, specifically fentanyl tablets, meant for distribution in our area have been located and seized,” said Whitman County Sheriff Brett Myers.

The vehicle was stopped as it headed south for a traffic violation.

“During the contact, deputies obtained information from the driver and passengers, which lead them to believe illegal narcotics were in the vehicle and that those narcotics were intended for distribution,” said Myers.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and found approximately 22 grams of methamphetamine and 70 fentanyl tablets.

Ronald Beidler, 62, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, was booked for possession of illegal drugs – fentanyl and methamphetamine – with intent to deliver.

Travis Peterson, 53, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, was booked for possession of illegal drugs – fentanyl, and methamphetamine – with intent to deliver, two counts of identity theft, four counts of possession of stolen property in the second degree, possession of stolen property in the third degree, and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Peterson allegedly told deputies he was his brother.

Another passenger in the vehicle was booked on an unrelated felony warrant.
