TOUCHET — The Colton Wildcats were down two starters when they lost to the Touchet Indians.
Colton (0-1) lost 49-35 in Touchet on Dec. 4 in their season opener.
The first half was close with the Indians moving ahead 22-17. The Wildcats came out of halftime and outscored Touchet 12-11 in the third quarter, but were outshot in the fourth 16-6 and lost 49-35.
Missing two starters, the Wildcats rotated in some newer players, including eighth-grader Tanner Baerlocher, said new Colton Coach Brandon McIntosh. The young player was second for most minutes played.
Colton had foul trouble all night with three starters constantly in foul trouble. Two fouled out in the third quarter, McIntosh said. The third starter picked up his fourth foul but finished the game.
With a lack of flow on offense, the Wildcats’ defense played with intensity.
“(I’m) impressed where we are but know we have much more to grow,” said McIntosh. “They were competitive and didn’t quit.”
Colton’s Matthew Reisenauer scored 13 points from 2 baskets, 3 3-pointers, and 2 free throws.
Angus Jordan added 8 points for Colton and Ralph Arnhold added 5 points, with 7 rebounds and an assist.
Ryan Impson came off the bench to contribute 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, and 5 deflections.
