ST. JOHN — The St. John-Endicott-LaCrosse (SJEL) Eagles boys basketball team is off to a 3-1 season start.
The Eagles’ first victory was against the Wilbur-Creston-Keller Wildcats on Dec. 3. SJEL won 40-29.
Eagle Tanner Fleming was the high scorer with 27 points, according to SJEL Coach Michael Stubbs.
The second win of the season was on Dec. 7 against the Touchet Indians. The Eagles won 65-34.
For SJEL, Pedro Molina scored 22 points, Fleming added 19 points, and Ryan Anderson contributed 10 points.
“(It was a) high energy game with ball-hawking defense by the Eagles,” said Stubbs.
Game 3 on Dec. 10 was another victory as the Eagles beat the Oakesdale Nighthawks 52-41.
SJEL’s Fleming scored 16 points and Molina added 10 points.
Oakesdale’s Jackson Perry scored 17 points for the Nighthawks.
“(IT was) a well-played hard-fought game against a great team,” said Stubbs. “(It’s) a win for the Eagles.”
The win streak ended at three when the Eagles met the Pomeroy Pirates on the hardwood on Dec. 11. The Pirates defeated SJEL 60-49.
Molina scored 16 and Fleming added 14 points for the Eagles.
Pomeroy’s Trevin Kimble scored 25 points for the Pirates.
