TEKOA — The Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves chewed up the Colton Wildcats boys basketball team 59-18 on Dec. 10.
Tekoa-Rosalia (5-1) came on strong offensively leading Colton 43-11 at halftime. The Timberwolves continued to add to their lead throughout the second half by adding 9 more points to win 59-18.
“We were missing three players who play a large role,” said Colton Coach Brandon McIntosh. “(Tekoa-Rosalia) came out and played fast.”
Tekoa-Rosalia had the size advantage and capitalized on Colton turnovers early in the game. Despite trailing during the game, McIntosh said he saw somethings working for Colton. The team got into more sets, moved the ball better, and opened more opportunities.
“We were improved in this game from our first,” McIntosh said. “We still need to continue to grow as a unit, trust more, move the ball quicker, pick up defensive intensity and block out better. All will come with time and getting our entire team together.”
On defense, Grant Wolf had 6 rebounds and Jaxon Moehrle had 4 rebounds.
Wolf is only 5-foot, 6-inches tall and was guarding players much bigger than him.
Moehrle is also 5-foot, 6-inches tall and had 5 deflections and 3 assists.
“(He’s) showing solid leadership with the young players,” said McIntosh.
For the Wildcats, Ralph Arnhold and Grant Wolf both sank 3-pointers.
Colton’s Ralph Arnhold scored 9 points with 4 baskets and a successful free throw. Grant Wolf added 6 points and Matthew Reisenauer contributed 2 points.
Tekoa-Rosalia’s William Potter scored 14 points, Isaac Bone added 12 points, and Morgan Martin scored 8 points.
