COLFAX — Alcohol played a factor in a Colfax man being arrested for domestic violence.
Lucas Welch, 41, of Colfax, was arrested on Dec. 275 at a home on Lake Street for assault in the second degree — domestic violence.
Welch allegedly shoved a 40-year-old woman against a door frame and choked her, according to Colfax Police Chief Bruce Blood. She stopped him from reportedly breaking down her daughter’s bedroom door.
“She tried to keep him away because he was drunk and acting very aggressive,” said Blood. “He drank a fifth of alcohol and the daughter found it.”
The daughter was not hurt.
Welch allegedly bruised the woman’s arm when shoving her and then grabbed her throat.
“She said she couldn’t breathe,” said Blood.
Welch reportedly told police his legs hurt and was taken to the hospital. Blood said Welch began acting aggressively with hospital staff and was restrained. Welch then allegedly told police his legs didn’t anymore and he was taken to jail.
