Hospital CEO search narrows

PULLMAN – The Pullman Regional Hospital selection committee has narrowed the list of candidates for the hospital’s next chief executive officer.

From a pool of 44 applicants, 15 move forward in the selection process

The applicants are being asked to explain how they would plan to address the community’s needs, in written format. Submissions are scored in several categories.

Candidates moving forward will be asked to participate in Zoom interviews with the committee, according to Alison Weigley, director of external relations.

The CEO candidates participate in multiple panels with representatives from the hospital leadership and staff, Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation, physicians, Washington State University, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, City of Pullman, and others to provide feedback to the committee.

“We’ve taken a unique and thoughtful approached to the selection process,” said Tricia Grantham, selection committee chair and vice president of the Pullman Regional Hospital Board of Commissioners.

“The CEO is not only a crucial role for our hospital, but for our community, and we need this person to be the right fit to represent and advocate for accessible and exceptional health care for our region.”

The hospital initiated the search in February 2021, following Scott Adams’ announcement of plans to retire in December of 2022. He served as CEO for 30 years.

The CEO Succession Plan outlines a two-year transition, in which Adams serves in an advisory and support role for six months after a new CEO is named.

“Our goal is to name a qualified candidate by April 2022 who supports a vision for a self-sustaining, patient and employee-focused, award-winning hospital,” Commission President Jeff Elbracht said.
